I’ve seen various formats for communicating to pupils what learning outcomes correspond to which levels/grades. There’s a lot of information there and to try to put it all on one page is impossible! Step in Prezi! The beauty of Prezi’s near-infinite zoom function makes it perfect for this kind of information! Check out the Prezi below which I made for my pupils to access whenever they need it. Feel free to send your pupils to it too. Make sure you view it in full-screen mode by clicking ‘more’ then ‘full-screen’.
Check out this Prezi I produced showing the names of polygons. What makes Prezi so much better than Powerpoint is the ability to build relationships between pieces of information. After you’ve clicked the ‘play’ button, if you click the ‘circle cross hair’ control in this Prezi you will see that it zooms out and the polygons are arragned in a table format which shows ‘the bigger picture’ of the relationships between them much better than a slide-by-slide Powerpoint would have. Click and drag to move around the presentation and use the zoom controls to take a closer look. Otherwise just keep clicking the play button to cycle through the presentation. You can view it in fullscreen by clicking on the ‘more’ button.
A colleague of mine, Mr Street, produced a fantastic presentation that explains the dos and don’ts of designing a questionnaire. The presentation was made using the Prezi website, a fantastic free service that allows you to produce presentations that make Powerpoint look like it should have retired years ago!
