A good idea regarding the consolidation lessons. I do something very similar on a termly/2-3 week basis. I rearrange the room to have students in discussion groups and then I give them some example GCSE questions (our new scheme of work from Edexcel has a lot of using and applying questions). In the majority of these lessons I then use a spreadsheet to assess progress and identify trickier aspects of learning that need to be revisited either as part of the plenary or during future lessons.

How have these consolidation lessons gone? Have they been effective? And have you been doing them with all age groups/abilities or just particular groups?
